David Sager

David Sager has been a professional trombonist for over 45 years and deeply interested in old-time jazz for even longer. He has a Master's degree in Jazz History and Research from Rutgers University, and has written many articles, album notes, and even a N. Y. times Op Ed on early jazz. In fact, three of David's album notes have been nominated for Grammy Awards.

David Spend 12 years in New Orleans working as a trombonist, largely performing with Banu Gibson's New Orleans Hot Jazz. Originally from suburban Maryland, David returned to his home state in 1995 and began working at the Library of Congress, in the Recorded Sound Collection. He currently is a Reference Assistant in the Library's Recorded Sound Research Center and continues to play gigs in the D. C. - Baltimore area
